Happy Saturday everyone.

Danish-American pianist and comedian Victor Borge said “A smile is the shortest distance between two people.” Your challenge this weekend is to smile at as many different people as you can. It makes people feel so much better.

FUNKY FRIDAY

Thank you to all those who attended our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. I have been informed that Minnows will be joining us in a couple of weeks - once the Year 6 pupils have returned from their residential trip.

As mentioned in yesterday’s assembly, it was national ‘Comic Book Day’ and national ‘Open the Magic Day’ yesterday. I hope you encouraged your child to read a comic book or sat and looked at a picture book together.

OSCAR

Congratulations to Ellis (Year 3) on being presented with an Oscar this week.

It has been an absolute delight to see Ellis grow in every way possible over the last few weeks. His eagerness to learn, to discover, to be curious is insatiable. There isn’t a topic Ellis isn’t fascinated about and his love of learning is utterly infectious. Ellis is talented in so many ways from his mathematical skills to his ability to speak lots of languages. He is kind, polite, thoughtful and a wonderful ambassador for our school. We are extremely proud of you Ellis. Well done.

Attendance matters! The class with the best attendance this week is Dolphins Class with 99.3%. The Attendance Randomiser selected Little Harley for them to have for a week. Can you spot him in the photograph?

HARLEY SAYS…..

TOUGH MUDDER

Ronnie & Flossy completed their first Mini Tough Mudder last weekend. It involved a 1.5km run with obstacles and mud. They both did really well and were super brave!

 YEAR 6 STILL LIFE

BENJI’S ART

Benji (Year 4) entered an art competition over the summer holidays using some work that he made during art club last year run by Mrs Hampton and Mr Joseph. It was the ‘Skyways Open Art Competition’ which was taking place to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Skyways Art Gallery which is inside the community centre in Shoreham.
Benji was successful in making the shortlist for prizes in his age category (5-11 years) which means that his piece of artwork will be displayed at the anniversary exhibition.
Here is a lovely quote from Benji’s parents: “Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into art club and art lessons at the school, it is much appreciated. The children are encouraged to feel that they are artists, whatever their technical ability, and this gave Benji confidence to enter the competition!”

Well done Benji.
