Weekend Blog 17.10.26 - Happy Birthday Nursery
By D.Vallier, HeadteacherUpdated 17 October 2026Our Nursery is one today! Thank you to Emily and her team for a wonderful first year of learning and fun, with 12 children now enjoying life in Reception.
Happy Saturday everyone.
Our Nursery celebrates its first birthday today. Over the last twelve months we have seen our nursery grow into a popular provider of early years learning. The children have experienced a wide range of activities and as a result of an increase in numbers, we employed an additional member of staff. In the summer we were proud to see twelve of our children graduate and join our Reception class. Well done to Emily and her team. Happy Birthday Nursery.
Don't' forget you can click on any photograph in the blog to see it in full.

If you are looking for a Nursery attached to a school for your child, contact the office and come and have a look.

CAPTURED
Here are a few learning moments from this week, captured by Miss Watson:

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly. As one parent shared in an email to us:
Thank you very much for having us at your assembly this morning. It
was a real pleasure to see the whole school together and the fun you all have with music and jokes - perfect atmosphere for us all.
GOLDEN TICKETS
Bernard and Sunny (Reception), Alf and Alfie (Year 1), Jude and Emilija (Year 2), Sienna and Sully (Year 3), Wilf and Archie (Year 4), Max and Millie (Year 5), Herbie and Bodhi (Year 6). Congratulations to you all.
OSCAR
Congratulations to Cass (Year 4) on being presented with an Oscar this week. He got nominated for making Mrs Barnes smile every day. He arrives at school smiling, full of beans and excited for the day’s learning ahead. Cass has a lovely sense of humour which shone through in his story about the "Snakes coming out of the Wall" where he had snakes having water balloon fights, having a bath in Dad's shower cap and swinging from the chandeliers!
Cass has a keen eye for detail as seen in his wolf reverse art sketching. In PE he shines during football games with his quick reactions, team spirit and dribbling skills.
He tidies up the classroom at the end of every day and is always supporting his peers solve issues with the I-pads and computers. He is a star pupil! Well done Cass.

SPOT THE DOG - ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Congratulations to Ocean Class who had an attendance of 100%. The Attendance Randomiser selected Pippa for them to have for a week. Can you spot her in the photograph below? It’s a tricky one, so I will show you where Pippa is at the end of this blog.

GOAL
Some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils visited Sir Robert Woodard Academy to represent the school in a football tournament. The A team came 4th, the B team came 3rd. They had a great time. Thank you to Dixie and Mrs Flake for taking them. More children will be representing the school next week.

ELLA
Ella (Year 5) attended the Sussex County Gymnastics Competition in Horsham. She performed all her skills beautifully and she was very pleased with how she performed. She came away with 1st place in her age category. We are very proud of all her hard work!

ALL TIME HIGH
Alicija (Year 3) recently competed in the Sussex Championship. 1st AA, 1st floor and beam, 4th bars, 5th vault and won the shield for the highest score for all gymnasts competing in Tin level. She even gets her name will be on a shield. Well done Alicija.
