Weekend Blog 07.11.26 - Our Very Own Sparkler
By D.Vallier, HeadteacherUpdated 7 November 2026From Freya’s birthday sparkle to Kayla’s kindness and our swimmers’ hard work, there was lots to celebrate this week. Thank you to everyone who helped welcome visiting families to our school.
Happy Saturday everyone.
It may have been Bonfire Night this week, but we had our very own sparkler in Funky Friday Assembly……Freya. It was her birthday and as children don’t wear uniform when it’s their birthday, she decided to wear the most amazing sparkly trousers. We were all very dazzled and impressed. We hope you had a lovely day Freya.

PROSPECTIVE PARENTS
This week saw several groups of prospective parents (and grandparents) visit us as part of our open morning and afternoon. There were many positive comments about how calm the school is and how much the children clearly enjoy their learning. Parents got to speak with staff as well as see each class in operation.
A huge thank you to PTFA and Governors (Charlotte, Gemma, James and Kellie) for providing refreshments and being available to answer any questions that the prospective parents had. I would also like to thank our wonderful Year 6 pupils who led the tours.
If any parents missed our open sessions but would still like to come for a tour – please contact the school office
CAPTURED
Here are a few learning moments from this week, captured by Miss Watson:

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly. I think the highlight (literally) were Freya’s trousers. Wow! They certainly stood out in the Happy Birthday Band.
GOLDEN TICKETS
These are the children who received Golden Tickets this week: Teddy and Niamh (Reception), Evelyn and Ellie (Year 1), Oakley and Ayanna (Year 2), Dominion and Otto (Year 3), Joshy and Vesper (Year 4), Reuben and Ella (Year 5), Daniel and Mira (Year 6). Congratulations to you all.
OSCAR
Congratulations to Kayla (Year 2) on being presented with an Oscar this week.
Since the start of the year, Kayla has been like a guiding light to those around her, both through her words and her actions. She is a lovely role model who speaks to other children - particularly those who may find aspects of their learning a little more challenging - in such a kind and caring manner. Kayla is so patient and goes out of her way to make others feel supported, included and valued. Mr Joseph has often heard her give other children quiet encouragement. These are incredible attributes for a seven-year-old to have - the way she communicates with others and the maturity she shows are truly beyond her years. Well done Kayla.

SPOT THE DOG - ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Congratulations to Seashells Class for having the best attendance this week with 98.6%. The Attendance Randomiser selected Derek for them to have for the week. The spot the dog photo will be shared in next week's Funky Friday Assembly.

SWIMMERS
Ella, Millie, Remy & Rosa swam their hearts out in a swimming gala this week. They all had to do double the amount of swimming that the other schools did as unfortunately only four of the chosen eight pupils were able to attend.
They won both sets of relays, but as there were not enough boys representing, were not awarded the medals.
Millie & Ella both won their individual races (as well as some of the boys events they entered but were not awarded medals for),
Despite a little disappointment, they were all so proud of themselves and deserve recognition and praise for representing our school. They have bright futures as swimmers - watch this space!

FREYA SHINES AGAIN
Freya took part in the Supreme Dance competition at Sevenoaks. She participated in two group dances. She came first in one and third in the other. At Studio Stage she did two solos and came second and fourth.

HARLEY SAYS…..
DINOSAUR WORLD
Thank you to our volunteer Karen and her husband who designed and made a fantastic Dinosaur World for the Early Years children to enjoy. It is in the outside area and is roarsome!!

ADAM THE MUSIC MAN 🎶
The children in Nursery and Minnows had a wonderful time enjoying a special music session with Adam Wilkens, a local music specialist.
Adam brought lots of fun, energy and enthusiasm, giving the children the opportunity to explore music through a range of exciting activities. There was plenty of singing, dancing, listening and moving to the music, with lots of smiles and laughter along the way!
It was lovely to see the children joining in, expressing themselves and responding to the music in their own ways. Sessions like these are a fantastic way to develop listening skills, confidence, coordination and creativity, while having lots of fun.
A huge thank you to Adam for coming along and sharing his musical talents with us. We had a fantastic time! 🎵

Friday 20th November - Tombola gifts to be brought in to school
